Bill Plympton in Montreal
Bill Plymton came to Montreal and held an audience for a showing of selected shorts he has created. He explains his process, which includes a quota of animating 20 seconds
a day. Granted, he animates purposely on 3's or 4's to save time. But what really makes his work so compelling is not the smoothness of his animation, but his stories. All his story have this demented twist to it that the audience can't help but be drawn in by the irony of the situation. My particular one he screened was the sequel to his animated short "Guard Dog", "Guide Dog." I thought the original was good, but I love this one even more. Go to http://www.plymptoons.com/ Bill Plymton site and purchase a couple of his shorts. They are great. The video clip is Bill Plymton, after his screening, giving out a signed, exclusive "Bill Plymton" drawing to everyone who bought any of his shorts at the exit.
